Skips
I remember when I was working at the Warehouse a few years ago, and did the occasional shift in the stockroom: Not only did we lock the skip to prevent people stealing our rubbish, we also were required to break unsellable things to make them less desirable to scavengers.
It seemed wrong to me, but I went along with it. It still seems wrong now.
