I have to write a short story by the twenty-third of August. It has to be around 3000 words long, be set in the South Island and feature a dog, a personalised number plate and a character with an obsession.

They want to ensure that students actually write a story for the assignment, rather than yoinking one from the internet or using one written earlier. If there are any stories out there that meet those criteria, they’re probably known about.
